When he was a teacher he taught regular classes, he also taught special classes for older people, especially older women who lived in town. Before he died he was asked if he had any last words, he stated "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country." In 1773 before he entered the War he was a schoolteacher at East Haddam. Nathan Hale died when he was twenty-one, but he lived a short, valuable life. Nathan Hale was strong, courageous, and brave. The soldier had proof that Hale was spying and should be hanged. When Hale was carrying the information back to the colonists he was stopped, searched, and caught by a British soldier. Nathan knew that if he got caught he would be executed and hanged. He had to figure out their plan and tell the colonists. In the American Revolution Nathan Hale went to spy on British troops. Guards of the British general hanged him. Nathan Hale died on Septemin New York City. He was the 6th out of 12 children (9 boys and 3 girls) and they lived a Puritan life. His father was Richard Hale and his mother was Elizabeth Strong. Nathan Hale was born on Jin Conventry, Connecticut. It's hard to be brave when you know what's going on and you know what the consequences would be. He was a soldier in the American Revolution who risked his life for America and the colonists.
